Tucked into the southeast corner of the University of North Florida near Jacksonville, FL, the Hayt Golf Complex is under going renovations in 2022. The center now consists of a 9 hole par 3 golf course and a lighted golf driving range with chipping and putting areas. Former UNF Head Golf Coach, John Brooks, first met with (then) UNF President, Dr. Adam Herbert, and Athletics Director, Dr. Richard Gropper, in 1996 to pursue the idea of the UNF Golf Complex. That is when local businessman and UNF golf enthusiast, John Hayt, became a driving force with his initial donation of $750,000 which helped to get the project started. HIs generosity was followed by two additional gifts of $100,000. State funds matched Hayt's initial donation and another $100,000 from First Tee along with other gifts from the community amounted to $2 million and soon the complex was under construction. Not only is the Hayt Complex open to students, faculty and staff, but the public is welcome as well.
